Beginning in Bari, Italy working with Dizzy Gillespie... Roberta was inspired by meeting the likes of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Amina Claudine Meyers, Jack de Johnette, Andy Sheppard, Roy Hargrove, & Chico Freeman. Visiting London and working with Nicola Conte at the legendary Fez club, we were hosting live shows with Galliano, Brand New Heavies, James Taylor Quartet, Snowboy, Urban Species and many more.

After many trips to London experiencing the legendary venues of Dingwalls, The Fez, Subterania  and That's How It Is at Bar Rumba I moved permanently to London working as researcher for MTV Europe and as a correspondent for Acid Jazz magazine and Radio Italia Network in London. During this period, Roberta attended hundreds of gigs and interviewed legendary artists such as Manu Dibango, Fred Wesley including legendary Pee Wee Ellis, epic producer Tommy Lipuma, Guru Jazzmatazz, Salif Keita and many more.

Soon after, Roberta started promoting the artists she was writing about which meant she was able to push what was coming out fresh from the London scene and in particular via Straight no Chaser mag - big shouts go out to the whole Chaser fam which includes Paul Bradshaw, Kat Willgress but also Swifty for any visual concept and Janine 'Dingwalls' for the incredible club nights organised! 

 

Eventually Rome became a strong point of reference as we worked with talent that included Talvin Singh, Nitin Sawhney, Cleveland Watkiss, Marque Guilmore, State of Bengal, Johnny Kalsi & the Dhol Drummers, Ustad Ali Khan, Shubha Mudgal, Bobby Friction (BBC Radio Asian Network), Runaways, Attica Blues, Dego - 4 Hero, Outside, Wiley, JME, Skepta, Ninja Tune Djs, Marky & DJ Patife, DJ Krush, Kemi & Storm.

 

Roberta went on to work as a booking agent with more incredible talent such as Norman Jay MBE, Jazzie B OBE and Soul II Soul, Incognito, Sugar Hill Gang and many more including Joey Negro and Gilles Peterson.

For more than 10 years now, Roberta has been a proud volunteer of the Lucky Cloud Sound System - the official London David Mancuso (rip) legacy led by Colleen Cosmo Murphy, Tim Lawrence and Jeremy Gilbert.

In recent years, together with organizing unique multimedia Arts crossover events-parties for selected clients/festivals in Italy, Roberta has been spreading her unique musical messages as a radio broadcaster - music selector under the moniker; Roberta ReachOut.
