Tony Troffa has been selecting and collecting vinyl since 1989.​ From a young age he gravitated toward rap and dance music. While consistently gigging and building his vinyl collection throughout the 90’s, he frequently traveled throughout New York and out of state, rummaging through thrift shops, garage sales, and dirt piles to uncover the gems of the past that were used as samples in many of the records that he admired.​ He was greatly inspired and drawn into the world of rare grooves, spanning many genres such as disco, jazz, soul, Latin and African. He really enjoys sharing beautiful and eclectic music that is not widely known but worthy of high praise, and at times he makes available his personal edits for release on his co-owned label, Made in NY Records
